WE NEED SUCH GOVERNORS TODAY

New Moral Code From Washington:

“On January 19, 1959, came the legal rejection of massive resistance that Governor [J. Lindsay] Almond expected. Both the Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and a three-judge federal district court ruled, in separate cases, that the anti-desegregation statues adopted in 1956 were illegal and invalid. When the beleaguered governor went on television two days later to announce his response to the court rulings, his tone was strident and his message was one of continued defiance. An impassioned Almond told Virginians:

“To those in high places or elsewhere who advocate integration for your children and send their own to private or public segregated schools, to those who defend or close their eyes to the livid stench of sadism, sex immorality and juvenile pregnancy infesting the mixed schools of the District of Columbia and elsewhere; to those who would overthrow the customs, morals and traditions of a way of life which has endured in honor and decency for centuries and embrace a new moral code prepared by nine men in Washington whose moral concepts they know nothing about . . . to all these and their confederates, comrades and allies, let me make it abundantly clear for the record now and hereafter, as governor of this State, I will not yield to that which I know to be wrong and will destroy every semblance of education for thousands of the children of Virginia.”

(The Dynamic Dominion, Realignment and the Rise of Virginia’s Republican Party Since 1945, Frank B. Atkinson, George Mason University Press, 1992, pp. 1104-105)

Well, I do think history has proven the good governor correct. Too bad most of our people can't (or won't) learn the lesson.

Live well . . .

CAN YOU IMAGINE . . . ?

Can you imagine peace and prosperity?

Can you imagine America as a republic rather than an empire?

Can you imagine a society without political correctness?

Can you imagine the American public education system actually teaching anyone anything useful about preserving civilization?

Can you imagine getting to keep the fruits of your own labor?

Can you imagine paying a tax rate of 92% just to fund the interest on the US national debt?

Can you imagine a government in Washington,DC, without a large criminal element?

Can you imagine the average public school student reading in Greek and Latin?

Can you imagine the average public school student reading a book originally written in Greek or Latin in English?

Can you imagine an American police/surveillance state?

Can you imagine a local community, State, or nation whose public policies are not based first and foremost on some question of money rather than morality?

Can you imagine an honest politician who cannot be bought by the highest bidder?

Can you imagine a gallon of gasoline at twenty cents and a one-pound t-bone steak for less than a dollar?

Can you imagine gold at $10,000 per ounce and silver at $500 per ounce?

Can you imagine a worthless US dollar?

Can you imagine America in forty years (if not sooner) having a white minority?

Can you imagine clean, healthy, and cheap food grown in your own community?

Can you imagine American gulags?

Can you imagine your church being closed by government decree?

Can you imagine your firearms being confiscated by gangs of heavily-armed government goons?

Can you imagine government bankruptcy?

Can you imagine what a jackboot stomping on a human face forever would feel like?

Can you imagine what the American Founders must be thinking right now?

Can you imagine what standing on the deck of a sinking Titanic was like?

Can you imagine having a lifeboat on a sinking ship and not using it?

Can you imagine a free and prosperous Southern republic?

Can you imagine living well . . . in spite of all else?

JOY TO A BEAUTIFUL WORLD

It's a beautiful early fall day here in the hills and mountains of north Alabama. I'm just north of the Tennessee River (the "Singing River" in the Cherokee language)and about nine miles south of the Tennessee State line. Pretty much everything you hear around here is musical, even the soft breezes.

For all the ugliness and banality in the world, it sure can be full of wonder and beauty, too. I suppose it's all about that on which you choose to focus. The forces of evil will try to grind you down if you let them. Don't let them.

When they start to get to you, remember this: Christ now sits at the right hand of the Father, ruling and reigning over the earth. He will eventually make all His enemies (and yours, if you're a Christian) His footstool. With this in mind, how can you not be joyful?

Live well . . .

AMERICA'S BROWNSHIRTS

Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa had some profane, combative words for Republicans while warming up the crowd for President Obama in Detroit, Michigan on Monday.

“We got to keep an eye on the battle that we face: The war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And you know, there is only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They’ve got a war, they got a war with us and there’s only going to be one winner. It’s going to be the workers of Michigan, and America. We’re going to win that war,” Jimmy Hoffa Jr. said to a heavily union crowd.

“President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let’s take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong,” Hoffa added.

Live well . . . and watch your back.
